Historically, the episode traces ancient Egypt from unification around 3100 BC to Alexander the Great’s 332 BC conquest, spanning 30 centuries of Mediterranean dominance. Iconic sites like the Great Pyramid of Giza—481 feet tall, 6 million tons, built with 2.5 million blocks, and aligned precisely to Earth’s cardinal points—spark wonder over construction mysteries. Astronomical savvy is noted, including the 25,920-year Great Year cycle of precession, signaling shifts like entering the Age of Aquarius.
Culturally, ancient Egyptians revered cats as magical beings, adorning them with jewels, feeding them luxuries like peanut butter, and mummifying them for the afterlife. Pigeons, stuffed with rice, cinnamon, cardamom, and bay leaves, were delicacies and aphrodisiacs, tasting like chicken and popular across regions. Cairo’s chaotic traffic—where honking communicates—and suggest rooftop KFC/Pizza Hut in Giza for affordable pyramid views over camel rides.

Interview
Richard Huitema: Cairo and Pyramid Experience
Cairo was a favorite, particularly for the majestic pyramids, which are awe-inspiring from the city—words can’t describe them fully. They viewed them from outside only, without entering or a private tour. The visit was part of a group excursion during a filming trip on a ship. The group traveled by bus from Alexandria to Cairo.
They avoided riding camels after warnings about scams. However, a colleague ignored the advice, got on one, and faced demands for extra payment. When he refused, the handlers wouldn’t lower the camel to let him off, creating a scary situation until he paid.
