Myrthe Duursma is a Dutch teacher and avid traveler. She taught English in Vietnam and India — two very different countries, two very different classrooms. Both changed how she thinks about education. Where she immersed herself in the local customs and unique educational challenges. In our interview, she has candidly discussed the various challenges, such as language barriers and differing educational systems, as well as the significant rewards of teaching in these foreign cultures, offering valuable insights into adapting to diverse environments and building meaningful connections with students.

Back in the Netherlands, she teaches English and works as a student coach. She is also a key team member in the Hospitality, Bakery & Recreation department. Where her hands-on approach contributes significantly to managing the school’s restaurant, providing students with practical experience in a real-world setting while also fostering a sense of community and collaboration.
